Dave Bennett - VE7YJ


Dave was licensed as VE7AZG in 1968, in Richmond, BC, with the Amateur classification. Upgraded to Advanced Amateur in 1970. Have worked all the HF bands at one time or another. Was an active contester until the early 1980s, when family matters intruded. Worked CQWW from VE7WJ, the late Henry Thel, one year as part of a winning multi-multi operation... pictured on cover of CQ. Also worked at W7ISX, the late Tony Santos, multi-multi one year. VE7YJ in 1981. Have always lived in the Lower Mainland area of BC, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Mission, and Langley. Have served in most club offices of the Richmond ARC, Maple Ridge ARC, Fraser Valley DX Club. Presently mostly active on 75M SSB, but do a lot of listening on all HF bands. Wednesday net control station for BC Public Service Net (on 3729 khz at 0130Z every day of the year. Seldom on 2M. Currently using a Kenwood TS-480SAT with a low multi-band droopy dipole for 20/40/80. 2M consists of an Icom IC-27H to a mag mount whip on the metal roof of the trailer.
