2010 Olympics Seeks Amateur Radio Volunteers

 

The Vancouver Olympics Committee has given RAC details of their search for ham radio volunteers to assist during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games (Feb. 12-28, 2010) and Paralympic Winter Games (March 12-21, 2010).

Over 25,000 volunteers will be required during the 2010 Winter Games. The Olympics Committee began accepting volunteer applications on Feb. 12, 2008 through their website: www.vancouver2010.com . The volunteer application form includes space to list each person's skills and experience.

Other amateur radio activities being planned include the construction of a data and voice repeater system to provide continuous coverage along the Sea-to-Sky corridor, from Vancouver through Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton, BC. Planning is underway also for the operation of a special-event station during the 2010 Winter Games.
